The Internet has been successful beyond the wildest dreams of its designers � we now rely on the Internet for instantaneous communication, information, and electronic commerce. Despite this success, there are numerous ways in which both the Internet itself and its many applications can be improved. The focus of the Internet Research Lab is to explore ways in which (a) the reach of the Internet can be extended, (b) the infrastructure of the Internet can be improved, and (c) the services the Internet offers can be improved or extended.
