UnCoRe: Undergraduate Computer Research at Oakland University

Requirements: 

Open to all non-graduating undergraduates (students who will have at least one more semester to complete after participating in the program) with an interest in Computer Science and Engineering.  Students must be US citizens and permanent residents.

Students will be selected based on statement of interest, GPA, and letters of recommendation.

Description: 

The Computer Science and Engineering Department at Oakland University invites students to apply to its fifth summer of an NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduate students.  The students selected to participate will be immersed in a research environment under the mentoring of CSE faculty.

This program is a full-time comprehensive educational experience targeted to women in particular.  It should be understood by the students that this position is not merely a summer job, but rather an educational experience where the students are treated like junior colleagues. 

Participants will recieve a stipend of $3600 for the ten weeks, meal allowance, and travel subsidy for either travel to and from the program or to attend a conference. 

Research is conducted in teams of two under close supervision by CSE faculty.

A variety of research topics is available in Intelligent Information Engineering 

Location: 

Oakland University Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Rochester, Michigan             

Duration: 
10-weeks full-time research program from May through July . Students cannot be working and taking classes at the same time.
Compensation: 
Students receive a stipend of $3,600 for the ten weeks, a meal allowance, and a travel subsidy, which can either go towards travel to and from the program or to attend a conference.
